Casden made his way through the corridors, looking for his dormitory. He'd scanned the piece of paper numerous times, memorising the number and stamping it into memory, but he'd paced the same halls a number of times now and still couldn't locate his dorm. Good job he exercised great amounts of patience.

"--And then I'll shove it so far up his arse that you won't know what hit ya'!" Dere slammed the door before the disgusted teacher could get in another word. Pulling the string of the skull around his head, he let out a lethargic sigh before making his way back towards the dormitory. A coy smile made its way onto his features as he remembered overhearing that a new student was to be arriving that evening. He wondered half heartedly if they'd be staying anywhere near his dorm.

Casden sighed through his nose as he made his way back up the corridor, as if exiting the wing. That's when he saw a stranger wearing what appeared to be a skull? He hadn't seen this before, but the entity couldn't distinguish between ordinary and strange, so it didn't baffle him too much. "Excuse me?" he said, approaching the male. His voice had an ethereal quality and he moved quite gracefully. "Can you locate this dormitory?" and with that, he presented a sheet of paper with big, bold numbers across it.

He looked at the seemingly younger student with a slight air of disdain. But, being the 'friendly' and 'helpful' student that he was, Dere snatched the sheet from the student and brought it up closer to his face so he could read it properly. "Huh.." Pocketing on of his hands, he passed the sheet back to the student, slightly less aggressively than before. Losing some of his hostility, Dere started back, past the student, to the dormitory. Without looking back, he beckoned the student to follow, "Come on, Guy. Let's go get you settled in."

Casden watched the stranger, intrigued by his snappy behaviour. Then he took the paper back and folded it in between his hands. "Excellent," he said cheerfully, and Casden followed the male. "I'm Casden, by the way," he told the stranger, walking up beside him and radiating a neutral aura.

Dere eyed the student, now known to be called as 'Casden'. Stretching his arms out in front of him, he replied, using a surprisingly soft tone, with, "Dere, it is an absolute pleasure to meet ya', Cass'." A mild lisp fitting itself into his words. He grimaced, but put on a 'generous' face before pulled out a packet of half eaten gummies and offered it to Casden in an attempt to complete his act.

Casden nodded a single nod, moreso inclining his head towards Dere, a friendly smile on his face. "And you," he said mildly, secretly pleased with his nickname. Upon being offered a gummie, his eyes lit up and he said "is there a strawberry flavour?" as he buried his hand in the packet, before recoiling with an ample amount. He held the gummies in his palm and ate them one at a time, trying out each flavour tentatively.

He chuckled, bringing the bag back to himself and moving the bodies of sugar with his finger until he found a lime gummy, "Most definitely," he muttered distastefully, before facing up and opening his mouth, throwing the gummy in the air... Only for it to fall into on of the openings in the skull. Dere kept his position for a moment longer before closing his mouth and looking behind himself for the green gummy. Shrugging, he pulled out a blackcurrent flavoured gummy and popped it in his mouth. Whist chewing, he tilted his head towards Casden and asked, "So what brings you to our humble school ? It can't be the grades ... Or ...", Dere chuckled again and shook his head, licking the blackish candy off his teeth .

Casden watched Dere, his interest wandering as the male tossed a gummy into the air and missed. Then he was spoken to and his eyes returned to Dere, a smile bracing his features. "I want to learn what earthly beings learn. Apparently, I'm not acceptable to attend mainstream school..." he frowned a bit, still confused about this notion. "So here I am," he finished, opening his arms as if presenting himself. He paused, rehearsing the adjacency pair in his head. "What about you?" he inquired.

Dere choked slightly, coughing noisily into his hand before swallowing. He raised his brow at learning Casden had actually wanted to come to the academy, but he guess that 'different people like different things' or whatever. Wiping his hand on his pants he said in an thoughtful voice, "I think I got forced into going here, after some village up north tried to mob me..." He frowned, trying to remember why. After a few seconds, he clicked his fingers to signal he'd gotten what he wanted to remember, "After I'd eaten too kids and some old bum" he said happily and popped another gummy in his mouth.

"Oh... and that wasn't acceptable?" Casden asked, wrapping his head around this circumstance. He imagined angry people chasing down Dere. He supposed they would be angry, if Dere had murdered... no, eaten, three people they formed emotional attachments with, although "old bum" wasn't a term he was familiar with, so he literally thought he meant an aged anus. "That's interesting. I'm not acceptable apparently, but I haven't eaten anyone."

"Personally, you don't seem like the kind of personality to be goin around eating people. But honestly, it's their fault since the guy looked nothing like the mayor, or whatever it was they wanted him to be. I tell ya, humans have a weird way of showing authority - if I'da been their mayor..." Dere then proceeded to describe something little short of a dictator or emperor... which then quickly escalated into the idea of trees being able to talk, "--All in all it'd be a terrible idea, and probably kinda depressing if you got sucked into a conversation with one of them", and with that he unlocked the door of the room in front of them and pushed it open for the new student. "By the way, do not touch the peanut butter in the left, back cupboard or I swear to God you will be cursed."

Casden listened to Dere attentively, getting lost at some points but understanding at others. "I see," he said, furrowing his brow thoughtfully. He followed Dere inside, looking around his new dwelling. "You're partial to peanut butter?" he checked, opening the said cupboard and looking at the jar at the back, before glancing at Dere.

Dere blinked, standing by the door for a moment longer with a stupified look on his face before 'coming back' and shaking his head, "No, no I love the stuff - it's just that one jar's been there since before I moved in. I think it might be alive", the lisp slipping in a couple more times, whilst he made a sorta jazz-handed jesture to go with his words. After a few more 'ooOOoo's, Dere just smirked to himself and closed the door behind him. He then proceeded to flop onto the couch and bash the back of his head on the arm of it.
"Gahh..." He wrinkled his nose and rubbed the back of his head.

"Oh, that sounds like a bad thing," Casden remarked, and he quickly shut the cupboard. He turned to Dere, who had plonked himself onto the sofa. "Which is my bed?" he asked the male.

He indicated to a short, dead end hallway between the kitchen counter and a broken tv, "First door on your right. And in case ya need it, the bog is at the end of the hall." He leaned his head back down on the arm of the couch, covering his face in the corner of his arm, "Anything else ? Bags or whatnot." Dere chewed on a flap of lip whilst he awaited Casden's reply.

"Oh, yes," Casden raised a finger, as if a realisation had came over him. "I'll fetch them later," he decided. Venturing down the short-lived hallway, Casden opened the door and peered inside his room. It smelt a little musty and the light flickered on weakly. Casden frowned, and upon command, the bulb brightened, filling the room with yellow light. "That's better..." he said to himself, pleased.

Dere gave a short grunt of acknowledgment as he watched the student disappear off to check out their new room. He'd started to already get the feeling that having a roomie wouldn't be half as bad as he'd thought, though there could always be room for improvements. Jumping up (perhaps a little too quickly), Dere paced across the room, the strings of the skull starting to rub against the back of his neck with every step. As he crouched down for something out of the fridge, something shifted just outside his vision.

He paused momentarily before leaning into the hallway.
Satisfied, Casden wandered out of his room and gave Dere an inquisitive look, his head canting to one side. "Is something troubling you?" he asked, his gaze dragging across the room. Under the assumption it was probably nothing though, the male glanced back into his room, shutting the door behind him.

Blinking, Dere slowly made the impression of a smirk and quickly grabbed a drink before standing up, "Nah, just spacing out I'm guessing. Anyway what you think about it ? Not to tight or anything." He raised a brow, clicking open the tab in the process.
"It'll do just fine," said Casden, nodding humbly. There was a moment of silence and the male wandered towards the window, surveying the exterior surroundings. He considered his words before he spoke again. "So what is it you do?" he inquired, brow raising. To clarify, he added "I mean, your ability..."

Dere's smirk seemed to widen at the question, though he didn't say anything at first. But once he finished the can within a few gulps, he spoke with an almost audible purr to his voice, "Some humans have spoken of me as the embodiment of insatiable hunger, gluttony, unbridled evil, or even the savage predator." He chuckled, head raised and slightly tilted,  "Though if you're asking for my title; I am a wendigo.", strolling forward he reached where Casden was standing, tiling his head up with the tips of his fingers, "And what, might I ask, are you ?"

Casden wasn't sure what a wendigo was, but now he was the object of inquiry, so he saved his question. "I'm what's referred to as a celestial entity," he informed Dere, raising his hand and rubbing his thumb against his index finger. His dark skin flaked and fell away like dust, as if his whole being was about to crumble into ash. "I'm an essence, conceived in space," he indicated skywards, "and able to harness energy in its various forms." He spoke softly and gave a little nod, before finally asking Dere "what is a wendigo?"

Dere's eyes widened as he watched the student cause part of himself to fall away. The whole concept of Cass' being was more than a little over whelming. Quickly trying to wipe away the dumbfounded look, Dere stepped back from him. Looking at his fingers, he noticed that a light dusting of what he had decided to call soot lay on the surface of his fingers. Frowning momentarily, he looked back at Cass and wiped the soot off on his pants. "Interesting." Was all he was able to mutter. The question didn't seem to help his sudden slip of confidence, though he did seem to stand a little taller as he began to answer, "It's more or less the physical form of a human who's been killed by someone who has become cannibalistic or feral. It isn't as exciting as your.. celestial entity jazz, and not to comfortable either I guess but..." He trailed off, the air around him now seeming to have a sharp coldness to it.

Casden seemed unfazed by Dere's coldness, instead very intrigued. "Cannibalistic? Feral?" he echoed, inclining his head towards the wendigo. "What are they? Which one killed you? I understand words ending in '-stic' are describing words... or adjectives... so it'd be a cannibal, that would've killed you, or a feral..." Casden's eyes wandered as he worked through this aloud, then he looked back to Dere for an answer.

The skin around his mouth tightened, "Like I would know. 'Beside they're one of the same thing ain't they ?!" he snapped, his voice suddenly rising again. Noticing his rise in temper, he muttered some half-hearted comment to himself under his breath before turning and stormed out of the dorm room and shut the door. Pausing in the hallway he realized the fool he'd almost made himself look like. And just what kind of roommate he'd gotten himself. He shuck his head and continued out the building. A crippling growl pulsed through his body as he reailized how long it'd been since he'd eaten. Well, a hunt wouldn't hurt, it'd help get his mind of things anyway.

Casden thought about that and was about to answer with refreshed understanding, but the Wendigo marched off. The slam of the door amplified in his sensitive ears as he worked out the force with which it'd shut... paired with a snapping tone. That indicated anger. Casden was standing there, surprised, and tried to figure out what it was that he'd done. "Oh dear," he said to the air, defeated. He didn't follow the Wendigo. He found that being quiet and obedient calmed people down, so he remained where he was and started twiddling his thumbs instead. Then the entity took a seat on his new bed and pondered the previous interaction between the two, then back onto what a 'feral' was.

Only one thing to note, as far as I'm aware all dorms are singles. If/when we decide to bring in shared dorms, we'll be assigning roommates, I'll make a note of it in the journals. o u o
